Interview by Charlie Festa
Hello there, and how are you doing today?
A little hungry, but I can't complain.
How did you get your start in design?
As far bak as I could remember I was always interested in painting and drawing, even typography. I used to sketch the letters "e" and "g" all day long while my friends were drawing ninja turtles and dragons. When I got to high school I was always drawing things for teacher presentations or flyers for my friends' parties. One day it occurred to me that there might be a name for what I was doing other than just "art."

What inspires your work?
Lots of things. Music, movies, novels. I love to read, but I guess what inspires me most are other designers and my friends. It's amazing how many talented people I have in my phone.
2
How does it feel to have a design selected by Threadless?
Awkward actually. I had all but given up on my last submissions, especially the I Heart Coffee one. The feedback was mixed but the scoring was so low, I didn't see how it could get printed. One of my favorite comments on that shirt was " Nice try retard. Looks a little bit like I heart rabbit shit." After that, I stopped worrying if it scored well and just read the comments.

What do you plan to spend your hard-earned cash on?
Personal projects. I am nearing the end of a three-year video collaboration project that spans three cities and involves 10 other artists. The DVD is being made and I am silk-screening all of the posters and DVD packaging. Silk screening is a great, inexpensive way to print, but it still isn't free.
