A year ago I helped start Arcade Brewery and we just launched our kickstarter! We've been building a brewery around the idea of collaboration and fun projects involving comics and video games.
Our first beer is a Grapefruit IPA with a label designed by SEIBEI. When I wanted to do an 8-bit themed beer he immediately came to mind We have a 6pack comic called "6pack Stories" it's written by Jason Aaron with artwork by the co-creator of Walking Dead and awesome Comics-On Tees Designer Tony Moore. The title of this first 6pack stories is "Festus Rotgut" a zombie western tale told across 6 delicious bottles of brew. Check it out here: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/417753817/arcade-brewery We also just launched our website: Arcade Brewery Help spread the word to bring this dream of bringing you awesome beer to life! Thanks!
It's been awhile since I've done a mixtape challenge and I need some help coming up with a theme.
For those who don't remember here's a link to a past challenge http://www.threadless.com/news/654556/Make_a_November_quot_Comic_books_quot_and_or_quot_Food_quot_Mix_for_the_Warehouse Also, if you're interested in voting on the mixes let me know and I'll select a few to help the Threadless warehouse shirt librarians score these puppies. The rules are the same. Use 8tracks.com Only 1 sub and only 8 tracks. So what theme should the new mix challenge have or should it be themeless?
The inaugural volume of Comics-On Tees was released in 2010 at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC). It was an amazing experience - my first time at SDCC and I was in heaven. I had a free day after the release party and spent it going to panels and listening to my heroes in the comic industry talk about what they do. Did I mention, I. LOVE. COMICS.
One panel I was super excited to check out was DC’s Vertigo panel. I had just started getting more into the comic “I, Zombie” by Chris Roberson and “American Vampire” by Scott Snyder, who were both on the panel. Scott Snyder was the first to walk out for the panel and was wearing the Comics-On Tees Volume 1 shirt by Cliff Chiang. He came to our party the night before and picked up the entire set of four t-shirts in the first volume of Comics-On Tees. Chris Roberson walked out wearing “We Got Some Work To Do Now” by Travis Pitts and I was stoked knowing I had an excuse to introduce myself to someone who was quickly becoming one of my favorite writers. Chris Roberson said something that became the standard phrase from all these talented comic folk, “Threadless is half my wardrobe. I love Threadless.” I was amazed by the respect and admiration the artists and creators in the comic industry had for our designers as well as our entire community. It made the pride and love I have for Threadless grow even more, and I hope this series has been as much fun for you as it has for me. And as they say in comics... more to come. http://www.threadless.com/comics
What's the most WTF thing you've seen? I've seen a lot but over the years this still rates as my number 1 but I'm sure I could have lots of #1's like Michael Jackson and Elvis. What's yours?
Jhonen Vasquez posted this amazing blog about the making of Comics-On Tees Vol. 3. Check it out http://www.questionsleep.com/mindspill/?p=2405
I'm so happy Invader Zim is streaming on Netflix!
Hey Howdy,
I started a brewery back in April called Arcade Brewery one of the things besides beer that were doing is refurbishing old arcade cabinets to host indie game developers games. If anyone knows anyone or is interested in submitting their games to us please hit me up at lance@arcadebrewery.com We would feature you on our website and will be touring the machines around Chicago for gaming events. We are currently assembling a Winnitron machine as well Winnitron We like beer, games, and comics.
What's the most embarrassing moment you've ever had on a date? I had a similar situation as this comic.. but there was also vomit involved... went out to dinner and got food poisoning. Back at her place I was stuck all night in her bathroom unable to leave from severe diarrhea and vomiting... it was our first date.
