Ok I see what you were trying for... but
The skull shape is too vague (you had to tell us...) and I still only barely see it. And the guy's jaw is really weird. The born in the USA text? Why born in the USA? Just the movie reference? and lastly, the arm background? I looks like he has a arm afro. That is what I thought when I looked at it. Its a powerful concept, and I like parts of it but it has some issues (especially for a shirt) |

grayehound on Jan 16 '06 Another top-notch illustrator who's gotten screwed in the voting. Again because the ideas aren't "t-shirt" enough, for lack of better term. Nicely done illo, but how many people would want to wear this? It's not the art that'll kill this, it's the limited audience and lack of interest that will.

Great style. I'd buy your work on a t-shirt but not this one. It would seem the only person who could wear this is the guy in the picture.

This is great work and I think that it could work on a shirt, even if it is just to showcase that. It's too bad about the reaction so far.

I assume the character featured on the shirt is the son of a Vietnam vet that was exposed to high levels of Agent Orange?

The line work is great, perhaps your grammar isn't. I "get" the drawing but i don't see the profundity. you get a 3 for the depth of the drawing.

People will think it means Americans are freakish stump tubers. The background looks kind of like a huge goiter growing out the back of his head. I would like it without that.
But I kinda like it. I would wear it anyway, but I don't think many other people would. |

Ineresting style.
Suggestion... i think it would be a markable improvment to have the hand shapes actually extruding from said soldiers hair. The image would become far more dynamic. |

I'm sure you had good intentions, however the visual is not clear. It took a while for me to realise I wasn't looking at a Ukrainian immigrant grandmother (thought the background was a head shawl). I don't see this serving it's purpose on a shirt, sorry.

It is definitely a nice try at a political statement but often people get so carried away with the image that they carry about War, injustice and nonsense in general. I think this shirt is a good begining I think you need to take a few of the ideas but keep it your own as far as your point... I like it and I think if you looked back after a blast often you see lots of limbs lying around... sad? No the truth! Good Luck!

Hot topic and that's sure to draw fire. I like most of the art except for what's between the nose and the dog tags. As for the background I agree with DJLadyPope:

I think that would clear things up (except for the now apparent question to why he's wearing a helmet of arms... perhaps a clever pun is needed). Get the mouth closer to the nose and... I don't know about the text I think there are other viable messages. "Served" maybe? |
